JEE 2014 may not be purely subjective:

This year, admissions to the most coveted seats inIITs will be determined by a two-tier exam system with a JEE (Main) for all engineering aspirants followed by a JEE (Advanced) for the top 1.5 lakh scorers of the Main test. Both tests are based on multiple-choice questions. While IITs were seeking a change in format for this year's JEE (Advanced) too, the decision on the two-tier system was taken late and would have given studentsless time to prepare for a subjective test. The change in format will be introduced next year. In the multiple-choice test, it is difficult to determine the students' understanding of the subjects, a professor from the institute said."A right answer can be arrived at by smartly eliminating three wrong ones.Students should be able to solve the problems independently; then their performances can be judged," said the professor.
