IIT-JEE 2013: Diploma students not required give entrance exam

Candidates who want lateral entry into an Engineering degree do not need to sit for JEE or any entrance exam. The rule applies to candidates who have appeared for various polytechnic or engineering diploma programme from various State Board of Technical Education and applied for JEE (Main) examination. Candidates should have completed Engineering, Architecture or Pharmacy Diploma programmes from an AICTE-approved institutes with 45 percent to be elgible for the second year of a  4-year degree Engineering or Pharmacy and 5-year Architecture programme through lateral entry. Such a candidate need not give any entrance examination. If a diploma level candidate wishes to be admitted to first year of 4-year degree Engineering/Pharmacy or 5-year Architecture programme, then he is eligible on the basis of class 12 Certificate.
