IIT-B: Students asked to sign honour code to ensure ethical practices:

Students of Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) have been asked to sign honour code to curb plagiarism.
The students will sign the document mentioning that they will not indulge in any kind of academic dishonesty,
They will adhere to all principles of academic honesty and integrity and will not seek or give unauthorized help in tests, exams or assignments, states the code. They will not misrepresent, fabricate or falsify any idea/data/fact/source in their project submissions and any violation will lead to disciplinary action, it adds.
The one-and-a-half page code enlists dos and don'ts as well as penalties for violations. It also lays down rules for individual and group activities. In case of a group activity, all students involved in the group will be held responsible even if one member indulges in dishonesty.
All departments were taking measures to prevent plagiarism. The institute's student mentor programme also is devising its own honour code. "
